Step-by-Step Guide

Tools Required:

  • Open end wrench for the (square head plug) drain plug
  • Drain pan
  • Funnel
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Clean shop rags

Supplies Required:

Follow the steps below:

  1. Run engine to bring compressor unit up to operating temperature.
  2. Stop the engine and let unit sit for 5 minutes, allowing oil to enter the oil mist separator tank.
  3. Make sure the pressure gauge is at zero "0" psi.
  4. Place a drain pan under the unit below the compressor oil drain plug(s). Remove the plug(s) to drain oil.
  5. Tighten the plugs after draining.
  6. Remove the compressor oil filter. Catch the oil in a drain pan.
  7. Clean the filter sealing surface, taking care that no dirt drops into the system. 
  8. Oil the gasket of the new filter element. Screw it into place, do not over tighten.
  9. Remove the compressor oil dipstick.
  10. Add the proper amount of compressor oil through the dipstick tube
  11. Reinstall the dipstick.
  12. Start the engine and check the compressor oil dipstick and square head plug for leaks.
  13. Stop the engine, check for proper oil level, add oil as needed to reach the FULL mark on the dipstick.
  14. Dispose of used oil and filter properly.
