Windy Weather Blasting

Quick Tips for Blasting in Windy Weather

Windy conditions require thorough containment.

In their guide titled Protecting Workers from the Hazards of Abrasive Blasting Materials, OSHA advises against blasting in windy conditions to prevent the spread of any hazardous materials.

Containment - Seward, AK, In Water Blast, 10-2018Where windy conditions are unavoidable, like in the marine industry, you'll need to isolate blasting operations from the surrounding environment using a temporary enclosure (AKA a containment system) around your jobsite.

When applicable, OSHA's scaffolding safety requirements must be met to ensure worker and public safety. Familiarize yourself with these requirements and utilize OSHA's free on-site consultation program.
